As we all know there are many types of people in the world of Naruto and one of these types of people, while quite fewer in number than the shinobi, are the samurai.
The main difference between Shinobi and Samurai is that Shinobi capitalize on using their skills in ninjutsu while Samurai capitalize on utilizing their skills in kenjutsu. While both have been shown to be capable of manipulating chakra, their styles in doing so often differ greatly.
Another main difference is the name of their ranks and the quantity. While Shinobi have several very clear cut ranks, Genin, Chuunin, Jounin, and Kage, the Samurai have a lot more ranks. Their ranks from basic skill to master are:
- Private
- Beginners, they're young and still in school learning how to even wield a blade
- Corporal
- the Genin of the Samurai world, they're still students however now hone their skills through more focused training
- Sergeant
- the Chuunin Task Force of the Samurai world, they do all of the basic grunt work of the Samurai villages
- Lieutenant
- the Mentors, they are the teachers of the Samurai world that teach a Private how to wield a blade
- Captain
- the Jounin of the Samurai World, they're considered well diverse and masters of their trade. These Samurai are the Teachers of the Corporals
- Colonel
- the Elite of the Samurai World, they lead the various divisions and departments of settlements ensuring that everything goes well
- Major
- the Right and Left hand of the General
- General
- Leader of the Samurai
SAMURAI SKILLS
Like Shinobi Samurai start off with a set of basic skills that upon graduated from the Academy all samurai at least have some basic skill in or knowledge of. While most of these skills are the same there are two that are different.
- Iaidou
- A more advanced samurai skill that requires speed and skill with the blade. This skill utilizes that moment in which the Samurai draws their blade and quickly cuts down an opponent upon the draw before sheathing the blade once more. It is said to be so quick that it is more reliable than ninjutsu.
- Not in all cases is it more reliable only in some, an instance being a jutsu that needs either one or no hand seals.
- They are capable of great speed and precision with this technique. They have a great chance of hitting a vital spot upon using this technique, although not 100%.
- Capable of great speed and precision. They are capable of striking vital spots but only rarely.
- Capable of great speed. They are capable of dealing maiming blows to the target, however will usually not kill with the first strike, due to lack of precision.
- They are still learning, capable of hitting a target, if they are lucky, just forget about killing the target in one hit unless you're really lucky.
- They're learning, likelihood of hitting their target is rather bleak, however they get the concept.
- Kenjutsu
- This is the Samurai's skill with the Katana. All Samurai start off learning how to wield the Katana, however the sub-skill Bukijutsu can be added as well to implement any extra skill with other weapons. Unlike Bukijutsu, Samurai Katana-skill begins at E-Rank and progresses normally.
- They are a master with the blade, disarming this samurai is difficult if not impossible.
- Their skill is above average, while it is possible to disarm them, it is unlikely.
- They are still learning, their skill is about average. Disarming them is possible.
- Their skill is below average, they're still learning and should not consider utilizing the skill in combat.
- They just picked up the sword for the first time. They have much to learn and should only practice with a wooden blade.
- Samurai are capable of utilizing Chakra Control to change the shape and length of their blade, however some are even capable of using Elemental Manipulation to add elemental effects to their attacks.
- S: Shape: Master, Element: Master
- A: Shape: Master, Element: Adept
- B: Shape: Adept, Element: Average
- C: Shape: Average, Element: impossible
- D: Shape: Beginner, Element: impossible
- E: Shape: impossible, Element: impossible
- Unless taught by a Shinobi, Samurai are incapable of these skills
SAMURAI TECHNIQUES
Most if not all Samurai Techniques revolve around utilizing their blade. In some cases Samurai are capable of utilizing chakra manipulation in order to extend the reach of their blade or even change the shape of their weapon through shape manipulation, to a more preferred weapon. There are some, however, capable of nature manipulation, however these are few and far between.
