Cautiously. Swiftly. Silent as could be.

From high atop a tree branch, he stared down at the small group, walking with their 'treasure' in clear sight. The forest was loaded with potential hiding spots and points for sneak-attacks, trap might be set up anywhere in such a complex terrain. Yet, a single, clean trail of goldenrod earth led innocent travelers through these woods, because eventually, people would grow scared of crossing such a place without any convenience. And as expected, the traveling group used that very same trail to head towards the jail, in which this prisoner was to be sentenced and locked. It was way too reckless to lead a dangerous figure like that person in broad daylight, that much was obvious, making the watcher wonder why would they pick such a careless method, when - as commoners in a Shinobi ninja - they should know the consequences. It wasn't possible that they held so much trust in their guards' abilities, right?

Shikai let out a sigh before clicking a small button on his earpiece. It was a small, black device handed to him and his partner prior to the mission's start, for communication alone without drawing much attention. If they talked silently enough into the mic and kept their guard up for any upcoming 'surprises', there shouldn't be much trouble operating. "How's stuff on your end?" He asked, all the while continuing to watch the travelers, advancing through the woods and tree branches, for catiousness, as he did. The other one shouldn't have been too far away, and if everything went well since the last check five minutes ago, nothing should look out of the norm on their part as well, unless the targetting threats were spotted. That could be pretty bad...

"Okay, should be here by now." It's pretty embarrassing to be late for something important. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth and an uncomfortable feeling of guilt, both of which Shikai experienced right now. He was only a few minutes behind schedule, yes, but the task at hand wasn't something you just shrug off. He was even given a pair of transmitters for this mission, something he never got to work too much with, making him reconsider the actual weight of the situation at hand. Konohagakure village gates, didn't really seem that different from usually; the participants of this mission were to catch up with the group of travelers mid-way, but not before they left Kusagakure's boundaries, meaning they were more or less protected until the Konoha pair would make their actual appearance. The young man allowed himself to relax upon remembering this, lying to himself about the magnitude of his mistake. Where was his partner though? Hokage did assign this to him and 'a certain ANBU member'. They should be there by now...

As silent as he was fiery passionate. Kurotaki moved through the tree tops as though an ethereal ghoul. He was silent, and undetectable by normal means. He was graceful in his flight through the tree tops as he maintained surveillance over the transport of the kusagakure prisoner. Everything was going as planned so far. However the ANBU couldn't help but get a sinking feeling in his gut. He knew something was going to happen, and likely, just because of the route they were using, he speculated it was going to be soon. Then his partner in crime called in on the radio sets they had been given. The male's voice echoed quietly in his ear as the ANBU just came to land on a rather large tree branch. Kneeling down on one knee for a moment with his left hand on the trunk of the tree, the ANBU reached up to the button attached to the neck collar to respond. "It's too quiet." That was all he said before standing up to his full height again. At that moment that wind rushed past their group causing the leaves of the trees to create a massive clamor as well as forcing the red head's lengthy pony tail to dance with it. "I'm going to scout ahead," with that said, he kicked off of the branch he stood on and he was off bounding through the tree tops onward into the area ahead along the path. He just needed to confirm his gut. So once again he was to do something as simple as guard duty. Well it couldn't be that troublesome, after all it wasn't like he had to stand at the main gate and wait around all day while people came to and fro. No this time he would actually be doing something that would be worthy of deploying someone among the ranks of the ANBU. He was to be guarding a caravan as they transported a prisoner to his prison. Seemed simple enough, and perhaps with a bit of luck he might even meet someone special. Oh yes, that would be simply delightful. He giggled to himself like a little school girl at the thought of finding some charming young man to occupy his bed. Oh how delightful it truly would be if he could find someone to fit his needs. Someone that would mind being to tomcat, or even if they wanted it so, the pussy. He giggled at the thought again as he stood in front of his mirror putting his luscious crimson tresses up into a high pony tail. He had already been well dressed for the day wearing his typical ANBU uniform of a black sleeveless body suit, that ended at his shoulders and mid thigh, under a silver armored ANBU vest and black trousers that ended at mid shin. He also wore silver plated combat boots, and fingerless gloves. Resting near him on top of his dresser was also his ANBU mask the face in the shape of a cat, more specifically, a panther with crimson designs around the mouth area and eyes. It would take him a small bit of time, but the ANBU would finally fully gear up and be ready to leave. By the time he did at long last leave, his ANBU mask was placed firmly upon his face and rather leave by using the front door, his slipped out the window immediately taking to the roof tops and heading out for the meeting place. However, imagine his surprise when he discovered he was about thirty minutes earlier to their meeting place, and not only that, forced to wait even longer as the other arrived late. Let's just say he wasn't, in the least bit, happy that it happened, and when the other did at long last arrive, Kurotaki would remain hidden for a bit up on his high perch before finally dropping down and revealing himself to the other. "It took you long enough. To think you would dare keep a lady waiting." He placed his hands firmly on his hips almost as though he were a mother ready to scold her child.

The other participant of this mission was right, unfortunately. It really was too quiet, it has been for too long since they embarked on this operation. While he did expect to be ambushed mid-way, it was too odd; the supposed pursuers haven't shown a sign of themselves throughout the trailing, and they would soon arrive at the prison. Where were they? But Shikai couldn't allow himself to get anxious over this, expecting an attack is fine but there was never any concrete evidence that the spider-men would strike. It was a simple worry granted from capturing their 'creator'. As he maintained watch over the caravan, a strong gust of wind blew, making the treetops dance and the leaves rustle loudly. The ANBU then reported again. "Roger that. Stay alert for any surprise attacks." Shikai replied, removing his hand from the earpiece at last and leaping forward to keep the caravan at an efficient distance, maintaining eye contact.

Unlike the fellow ANBU, Shikai did not prioritize stealth or grace in his movement, despite holding some experience in sneaking around. It was a fundamental skill for Shinobi, after all. And yet, anyone watching the young male dashing around or hopping from one branch to the other, would state his way of moving unpolished and rough in comparison to the other. He was compared to a beast not just once or twice before. But keeping silence and staying alert of the surroundings were two crucial keys in this mission. Minimal movement was in play.

Soon enough, however, the worries proved right; an unnatural, white and gooey substance was found on few branches ahead. Swiftly taking a small lead on the caravan, Shikai leapt ahead, to see to the odd substance. There wasn't much of it in one area, but it was spread in parts all around the woods ahead. This white gum-like liquid was most definitely not a natural phenomenon. Using two fingers, Shikai swept a bit of the substance off the branch he stood on, carefully examining it through touch. It was sticky, but elastic. Putting a bit on his tongue allowed him to take a taste sample, and with his extraordinary sense of taste, indicate what it really was. An odd taste, almost like sweat or spit, bodily odor mixed with secretions. There was also a suspicious feel to it, as if burning - but not hot in the least. It was a rare taste, but Shikai still remembered it. This was... "... (Spider web. Chakra-infused spider web. But at this size...)"

Just then, before he could make any report properly, something caused the leafs behind him to rustle further, accompanied by a strong spitting sound.

It didn't take long for said ANBU to make her graceful appearance. Landing down as if fell from the heavens, she stood in-front of the Jounin, appealing very much to the young male. She put her hands on her hips, seemingly scolding the man for arriving late. Granted, she was an ANBU, professionalism is a top value in their work, and unlike a regular journeyman Shinobi, there wasn't any room for personal judgement or opinions in anything work-related. He couldn't help but feel rather embarrassed at getting such an approach. But wrongly enough... He didn't look in her words, but at her figure. A slender body covered almost minimally with the ANBU's specialized battle outfit, the tight and sleeveless shirt only barely seen beneath the vest, but easily serving a certain temptation. She lacked on the curves, but that in itself had posed a good, different type of charm, and the air around her and how she held herself posed a rather suggestive feel for the probably exaggerating man. And her red hair too...

Yes. She will do great.

As misfortune would have it though, Shikai was off a bad start as it is. He found an attractive female at the worst possible time - before a mission's start, and of the worst possible faction while at it. ANBU were incredibly busy with work unseen to the public; if he wanted to trigger her events and conquer flags on the road to The Ending, there was much to do. For today, it was best to dispatch such desire. "Ahaha, sorry, sorry..." He awkwardly laughed while scratching the back of his neck before reaching for a pocket on his vest. From it, Shikai tucked out two devices, folded in a certain way to fit in. "But, I got some things to use on this mission. We have to be prepared, you know? So first..." Shikai handed one of the twopieces to the ANBU female, then unfolded the one held in his hand and tucked the strap around his neck, putting the earpiece in his ear. "... We have these two transmitters. They work on a range of up to 150 meters, but I don't think we'll need that kindle range. You know how to use them, right?"

When his partner confirmed that he had in fact understood what he had told him, the crimson ANBU excelerated in his speed as his bounded from tree branch to tree branch, still stealth was his top priority, after all, he didn't want to be caught in some unfortunate circumstance. He was glad that he had maintained stealth too, because his gut was certainly correct. About two minutes after he had voyaged ahead of the party he had detected something in the near by area and stopped so that he could investigate. Now imagine his surprise and disgust when he found the trees covered in some sort of white goop that resembled a spider's web. Actually, upon closer inspection he definitely confirmed it to be just as such.     They were close, horrendously close. He needed to warn Shikai and the caravan. Only it would be too late. Just as he turned to head back he noticed out of the corner of his eye a dark shadow in the human shape only with many arms speeding through the trees towards the caravan. Crap! He had to act now. So he swiftly pulled a kunai from his holster on his left leg and an explosive tag from the pouch on his right side. Swiftly he combound the two before tossing the kunai with the best accuracy he could muster despite never having been too good an marksman, at a tree in the direction he saw the shadow running. If everything went well he would be able to detonate the tag moments later and BANG warn the others and maybe disorient the culprit.     However as he was doing this he heard a distinct sound from behind himself which caught his attention. It was something akin to someone spitting excessively loud.     He took the small contraption from the blonde haired man and looked it over carefully before unfolding it and fastening it around his neck before placing the ear piece in his left ear. "Yes yes I know how to use it." After wards he stretched his arms high up into the air high above his head while his golden green eyes wandered from behind his ANBU mask. They took in every last detail of this blonde haired man and engraved them into his memory. Slender. Slightly taller than himself. Charming. Hmm, perhaps he could make do. Just perhaps.     How unprofessional of himself to be thinking like that when they were about to go on a mission. Kurotaki shook his head slightly before lowering his arms to place them back on his hips, "Your name's Yagirami Shikai, correct? I am Uzumaki Kurotaki, it's a pleasure. Now then shall we be on our way, the client will not wait for us." He motioned towards the gate before he started walking waiting for a moment to see what the other would do.
