Our ancient ancestor fell into the clutches of greed, one of the greatest destroyers of man. As a result when the demon came to collect upon our ancestor's debt, our ancestor refused him and tried to fight back with power the demon had given him. The demon felled our ancestor and infected our ancestor's son with a curse that still today forces us all to flee from the light of day. Now we are forced to walk in the darkness of night wearing cloaks to protect us from any light that may attempt to break its way into our dark world.
However, not all of us are lucky enough to be able to avoid the light. There are times where we may fall prey to its purity without the protection of our cloaks. If we are kissed by the horrible purity of daylight we become physically weak. Usually our legs will give away first and make us drop, and before long we may lose consciousness.
Although our curse also has a slight blessing as well. The curse distorts reality around us, making daylight toxic to us, but also making illusions extremely powerful. In any normal scenario we are capable of casting stronger illusions than most, however when we are kissed by the horrid sunlight, we become even stronger in this aspect.

3 posts direct sunlight exposure, subject is rendered unconscious.Long long ago in ancient times, there lived a man in a world where war was constant. He had lost everything to him. Grown up an orphan, married, and then lost his wife and child to war. Desperate for a way out of this constant cycle of loss, the man pleaded with the woman known as Princess Kaguya. He pleaded with her to help him find a way to make a better world. However, she denied him this ability, believing he would abuse such power. So the man fled from the light of the accursed warring world to a distant land where dreams were said to come to life.
However instead the land was a bitter hell. Hellish creatures walked the planes at night and during the day everything was plagued with strife. Eventually the man had enough of everything and was ready to end his life, however, just as he brought the tip of the dagger to his throat a hellish voice called out to him. It beckoned him to not throw away his life, at least not yet. It proposed a deal with the man. It would give him the strength to change the destiny of the land that they walked upon, but only if the man would in turn give the creature his soul after three years. The man, agreed to this contract and he was thus bestowed with great power.
With this power he put a stop to the strife that plagued this Land of Dreams. He founded a village where people could live peacefully, and built fortifications against the hellish creatures that walked the night. Soon, peace came to the man's life, as well as those that he had affected. As the new leader of a village, he soon found a wife, and with that wife, had a son. A son which they named Shinken. However, soon the man's three years were up and when the hellish monster came to collect on his contract, the man fought against the creature with his new strength.
The creature, furious with the man for his new found greed, stole away all of the man's power before slaying him tearing his soul from his mortal flesh and sealing it away in his demonic book. Then with its remaining power before the sun rose, the hellish creature laid a curse upon the child Shinken. A curse that would forever make his descendants flee from the light but contort their energy so that reality seemed to bend around them. Then, with the dawning day, the creature faded away never to be heard from or seen again.
The child, Shinken, was horridly affected by this. During the light of day he would wail and wail for hours on end before experiencing bouts of unconsciousness. He would grow restless during night, as if becoming nocturnal, and all his life, he would grow up like this. The boy grew to resent all that is light and soon turned to darkness and destruction. He began to hate everything and everyone. However, in the end, even he would manage to marry and have children of his own, children that would too be affects by the demon's curse.
As time went on, more and more descendants of Shinken would be born eventually forming into a large clan of about twenty or so adults at one time. In turn, this would bring the downfall of the village their great ancestor had once founded at the hands of not the descendants, but the creatures of the night whom seemed to take with them. These creatures soon began to refer to the descendants as Shinkou or divine light, as a sort of mockery towards them for their cursed state of being. However in turn the descendants mocked and subjugated the creatures eventually forcing them into a contract with their people. In the end these hellish creatures became more of guardians for the people that were now forced to roam the night.
At the end of the Second Age, the Shinkou were growing horribly restless in their small land. Eventually they decided that they wished to be elsewhere with more people that they could despise and secretly plot the demise of behind their backs, and so they began to travel around. Their travels took them far and wide across the main lands. However, in the process resulted in the deaths of many of their people. By the time their people came to the village of clouds in the tenth year of the third age, their number was a mere third of what it had once been. Fearing that they might all perish, the remaining members of the clan decided to settle in Kumogakure no Sato, where their descendants continue to live today.
